Professional Development

WSTA is committed to promoting professional knowledge and growth for Washington educators. The WSTA Board of Directors will be reviewing the Next Generation Science Standards and determining how we can support our science teachers across the state of Washington. We are presently interfacing with both LASER and the Educational Service Districts to ensure we are working together to provide necessary variety in the types of training we offer teachers.   For additional information or assistance, please contact WSTA Professional Development Coordinator, Lois Sherwood at lolo.sherwood@gmail.com

WSTA can provide clock hours for Professional Development

If you are a PD provider, and you are interested in providing clock hours, we can help. You will need to turn in electronic paperwork and participant evaluations.  The Professional development paperwork will be reviewed by our professional development committee, and if approved WSTA will sponsor those clock hours.  We do require participant evaluations after every training opportunity to ensure high quality training for our science teachers. Please email our Clock Hour Coordinator at wstaclockhours@gmail.com

Professional Development Survey Results

In the fall, the WSTA Board of Directors conducted a statewide survey of science teachers to gather feedback on how professional development should be conducted, the topics of interest, and the best times to conduct teacher trainings. Click here for these results.
