Join our WSTA Membership Coordinator, Mark Watrin, a retired science teacher and Dig School Field Educator as he answers your questions about Washington State earth history.
The last 13 years Mark has teamed with the Burke Museum’s DIG field school that takes 30+ teachers to Hell Creek Montana to join the UW paleontologists as they research the transition from the age of dinosaurs to the age of mammals. Mark facilitates the WSTA’s “Earth History” professional development offerings that includes Famous Fossils of Washington (K-5), the Building of Washington State (6-8), and the Co-Evolution of Earth and Life in WA (9-12).
What questions do your students have about dinosaurs that you struggle with? What questions do you have about effectively teaching Earth History & Evolution topics? Send them to us and we will use those as the drivers of our “Dino-Bite sized PD”. Mark will describe opportunities for teachers to get into the field, how to access fossil resources from the Burke Museum and Stone Rose Interpretive Center and highlight WSTA’s Earth History for teachers’ professional development.
