Washington State's Earth History

A teacher professional development program from the Washington Science Teachers Association. These sessions were developed to support NGSS Earth history standards that are not traditionally taught, to present local phenomenon that students experience on a first-hand basis, and to utilize resources from the Burke Museum, Washington's natural history museum.

Details:

  • Full or half day courses for K-5, 6-8 or 9-12 teachers

  • Offered regionally, by district or by building.

  • Qualifies for STEM clock hours.

  • Cost: $700 full day $400 half day (+travel)

NGSS Learning Progression through Waves

Experience how NGSS three dimensional learning can help you differentiate instruction so all students learn. Use the Wave standards as a lens to learn how core ideas, science & engineering practices, and interdisciplinary crosscutting concepts build through the grade levels. Design three dimensional lessons that you can take back to your classroom and have fun exploring new ways to engage students in learning.

Details:

  • Full day course for K-12 teachers and administrators (or break up into 2-3 hour sessions to fit your PD schedule.)

  • Offered regionally, by district or by building.

  • Qualifies for STEM clock hours.

  • $700 full day $400 half day (+ travel)
