WSTA Presents: Bite-Size Science Professional Learning

Science Fair 101

Science Fairs have been on the decline. Let’s bring back the science fair in your class, school or district. Science fairs take a lot of time and effort to get started. Join Don Pruett, Past Science Fair Director with the Discovery Regional Science and Engineering Fair and 25 years of experience running science fairs, and Dr. Rama Devagupta, former Scientific Review Committee member for the Mid-Columbia Science Fair and Southridge High School’s Science Club Advisor, as they provide you with the necessary documents to get a science fair up and running.

In this session, participants will explore how to get started with something as small as a classroom science fair or as large as a district science fair.  We will provide you with Science & Engineering rubrics tied to the national science standards. We can provide you we example teaching tools to begin teaching students about the non-linear scientific process.  We will provide a PowerPoint presentation template that allows student to easily create a virtual science fair board that can be shared with others. We will provide information for student on how to share their ideas with judges. We will also provide information on how to do a grade level, all school or all district science fair. There will be a question-and-answer time to address your questions.
