Science Emeritus Fellows and WSTA memers are teacher leaders with knowledge and skills that other educators can gain from. Participants will be prepared to present on topics of their choice at their buildings, districts, and conferences. Participants will be strongly encouraged to submit a proposal to share their presentation at the WSTA 2024 Conference in October 2024.  Grab a fiend and present as a team.

     Project-based Learning in Science

Join our WSTA Recording Secretary, Ayla Wilk, as she   discusses the philosophical and pedagogical tenants of project-   based learning. You will also have time to explore resources and brainstorm project ideas for your classroom!

Do you wish you could engage your students in real-world science that has a local community impact? Are you curious about project-based learning but don’t know where to start?

PBLWorks and Educurious have tools to help you get started! Join Ayla Wilk for a quick introduction to the “Gold Standard” project design elements and teaching practices, followed by an opportunity to explore the teacher supports and project ideas on their respective websites.

Ayla has been using these strategies and curriculum resources in her own AP Environmental Science classroom with great success!
