William Baur: Introduction to the OpenSciEd High School Curriculum

ESD Network OpenSciEd Project Manager, WSTA Region 8 Representative

OpenSciEd is a free, high quality, NGSS-aligned science curriculum. The HS biology, chemistry, and physics courses have been field tested by WA state teachers and a few of the units are now publicly available to be used in your classroom. The materials are an Open Education Resource (OER), meaning they are free for all educators and students to use, customize, and share.  At this event, you’ll learn more about how WA state teachers and students helped shaped these materials through their participation in the OpenSciEd field test the last 2 years. We will dig into the high school OpenSciEd scope and sequence, give a brief overview of the units that have been released publicly, and share how WA state teachers can sign up for paid professional development and facilitator training in HS OpenSciEd curriculum this upcoming August.
