Bringing the Moon Down to Earth: Learning to Survive and Thrive on the Lunar Surface

Presenter Info:

Vince Roux and Melissa Roth are the owners, lead researchers, and founders of Off Planet Research, which simulates extra-terrestrial environments, and manufactures lunar regolith simulants, for research and development of space-based technologies.  Vince and Melissa became the first to successfully simulate the ices discovered by the LCROSS mission at the south pole of the Moon and their company is continuing to study these promising materials for ISRU purposes.  Vince is passionate about the promise that space holds for all of us and focused on developing the tools and processes needed for human kind to live and thrive as a result of our moving out into the solar system.  He has over 30 years of experience working in, managing, and owning businesses in the aerospace and space industries. Vince has a broad range of experience from operating as a pilot and mechanic in remote unimproved areas, to maintaining heavy commercial aircraft, to building rockets and spacecraft.  Melissa Roth is passionate about humanity having a meaningful, enduring presence beyond Earth orbit and learning how to live and work on the Moon and other worlds safely and productively.  Melissa has experience in aerospace so while the switch to the space industry was unexpected, it still follows her goals of getting her- and technology- off the ground. Vince and Melissa received their B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Saint Martin’s University where Vince is also completing his master’s degree.

SPACE IS LIMITED TO 30 PER NIGHT.
